Category Management

Barnet product categorization has 3 levels:

• Conditional Groups are the broadest and by default Barnet breaks them into LRS (for liquor) and NON LRS.
• Category Groups are available as a filter or grouping on most reports. Think: Beer, Wine, Spirits, Tobacco, Non-alcoholic.
• Categories are the most defined. Think: Gin, Vodka, Whiskey, etc.
  • There are some hardcoded categories in Barnet like: Gift Card, Credit, Returns, Rewards, Deposit, etc.
  • Categories set the tax rates on their SKUs for both sales and purchasing.
  • Price rounding can be set in Categories.

Category Groups also have settings while Conditional Groups do not—the grouping is just a report option.
